Rev. Melvin Roger Ferrell, 65, Watauga, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.

A native of Washington County, he was a son of the late Robert and Aretta Slagle Ferrell.

Rev. Ferrell had been pastor of the Church of The Living Savior for the past 15 years until his illness. He was also retired from Edmonds Brothers Supply Company, Bristol.

Survivors include his wife of forty-six years: Vickie Lynn Taylor Ferrell; Three Daughters & Sons-in-Law: April & Pat Burker, Bristol, Tn., Melody and Herb Roupas, Johnson City, and Misty Josten and husband, Paul, Elizabethton; A Son & Daughter-in-Law: Greg & Amy Ferrell, Bristol, Tn.; Six Grandchildren; Brent Burker, Christopher Burker, Danyell Burker, Melanie LeBlanc, Jacob LeBlanc and Caleb Ferrell; Two Great Grandchildren: David and Breanna Burker; Two Sisters and Brothers-in-Law: Sharon & Doug Bradley and Dale & Jerry Perry, all of Elizabethton; A Brother & Sister-In-Law; Charlie & Elondia Ferrell, Elizabethton.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ira Johnson and Rev. Earnest Garland officiating.

Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013, in the Scalf Cemetery. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday, will be: Brent Burker, Christopher Burker, Johnny Huffman, Rusty Huffman, Pat Perry and Jerry Perry.

The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to Amedisys Hospice and Pam Roberts for the excellent care that was received.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family and the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
